Music Director

Dr. Eduardo García-Novelli, a native of Argentina, is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI, where he conducts the Carthage Choir. Since his arrival to Carthage in 2008, Carthage Choir has toured Europe (Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria) and the US (Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Indiana) and was selected to perform before the membership of WMEA (Wisconsin Music Educators Association) in October 2009. The choir was recently honored tobe selected to perform for WCDA (Wisconsin Choral Directors Association) annual convention in January 2011.

 

Eduardo holds undergraduate degrees in music education from the Conservatorio Manuel de Falla, and in choral conducting from the Conservatorio Juan José Castro, both in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After moving to the United States to pursue graduate studies in music, he graduated with distinction with a Master of Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Houston, in Houston, TX. After one year as Director of Choral Activities at Lee College, Eduardo completed six years as Director of Choral Activities at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Lamar University honored him with the Faculty Merit Award for Excellence in Teaching.

 

Eduardo served as Assistant Director of the Houston Symphony Chorus for five seasons and served as Chorus Director for the Symphony of Southeast Texas, preparing choral-orchestral works for music director Christopher Zimmermann.

 

As a church musician, Eduardo served as Director of Music Ministries in churches in Argentina, NJ, and TX. Under his leadership, First United Methodist Church of Beaumont Chancel Choir completed two European tours. He currently serves as choir director at Mount at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church in Racine, WI.

 

Eduardo is a national prize winner for the “La Nación” (Argentina-1st Prize, 1992 and 1993) and the ACDA (US- 2nd Prize, 1999) competitions. Eduardo and his wife, María Fernanda, live in Racine, WI. They have two children: Mateo and Camila.
