Eric Townell brings a national reputation as a choral, orchestral
and operatic conductor to the Master Singers. Educated at Peabody
Conservatory and Indiana University, Eric has studied with Helmuth
Rilling, Georg Tintner, Charles Bruck and Frederik Prausnitz.
Eric has been Music Director of the Festival Choir of Madison
since 1993. Formerly Music Director of the Central Wisconsin Symphony
Orchestra, Eric has been a frequent guest conductor with Wisconsin’s
leading instrumental and vocal ensembles and with orchestras,
choirs and opera companies in the US and Europe for the past dozen
years. His choral and orchestral conducting have been featured
in four live broadcasts over Wisconsin Public Radio, in taped
performances for Wisconsin Public Television and in nationwide
broadcasts over NPR. Together with the Master Singers, Eric is
committed to bringing the very best musical experiences to Milwaukee,
where he has resided since 1997.
