The Music Director shall be responsible for all musical activities of the Master Singers of Milwaukee, Inc. and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors from time to time.<\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL><\/DIV>\n

  Qualifications:<\/SPAN><\/P>\n

  Formal music education with advanced application of choral techniq<\/SPAN>ues, vocal pedagogy <\/SPAN>training, and a zeal in preparing and training a semi-professional volunteer choir. <\/SPAN>\n
  Broad and thorough background in choral music and conducting <\/SPAN>\n
  <\/SPAN>Minimum 5 years as a choral director <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Experience conducting instrumental groups as accompaniment in choral performances <\/SPAN>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Ability to teach and create a positive learning experience <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Flexibility and accommodation to working as a collaborative member of a non-profit organ-ization with a volunteer Board of Directors <\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL>\n
  Duties and Responsibilities:<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN><\/P>\n
  \n
  <\/SPAN>Lead the annual musical programming process of the Chorale. Director is to select works to be performed. However, this is an interactive process with the sub-committees of the Board with final Board approval that may require some adjustments. <\/SPAN>\n
  <\/SPAN>Prepare concert programs and present them to the Board for overall approval. Programming is expected to: <\/SPAN> \n
  Stimulate and challenge the membership of the choir. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Be within the annual budget approved by the Board. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Consider audience appeal. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>When possible, present programs with collaborative efforts including other performing arts groups and ensembles. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Contain as may aspects of educational outreach within the scope of the program. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Determine accompaniment needs for rehearsals and performances. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Determine soloist needs as required by programming. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Through the MSM librarian, order and purchase or rent music for concert programs as necessary. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Select and assist in hiring qualified instrumentalists and soloists for concerts. <\/SPAN>Rehearse the full Chorale a minimum of once a week during the concert season. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Additional rehearsals are generally required during concert production weeks. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Conduct all concert performances <\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL>\n
  <\/SPAN>Auditions: <\/SPAN><\/P>\n

  Coordinate and audition new members for the Chorale in September and January <\/SPAN>\n
  Re-audition all singers every three years <\/SPAN>\n
  Conduct or oversee assistant conductors in selecting singers, plan, and rehearse for all special programs. These are generally for small groups, (e.g., programs at country clubs, Italian Community Center, Festa Italiana and summer concert programs at various venues) <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>Coordinate and plan programs in collaborative efforts involving other choral ensembles, orchestras, bands or other arts and performing groups as contracted by the Board <\/SPAN>Work with Marketing and Program Committees in the preparation of all brochures and program documents <\/SPAN>Serve as an ex-officio member of the Executive Board and Board of Directors. Both groups generally meet monthly. <\/SPAN>Prepare and present a Music Director’s Report at<\/SPAN> the meetings of such groups <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>With approval of the Board, accept speaking engagements and attend functions from time to time on behalf of the Chorale. <\/SPAN> \n
  <\/SPAN>At all opportunities, promote MSM and be an ever present ambassador of the Chorale in its community. <\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL>\n
